3D printing metal material extrusion process

Description: this technology is specially created for 3D printing of cheap metal and can be used in small and medium-sized enterprises. Design studios, machine shops and small manufacturers use metal extruders to iteratively design, create fixtures and fixtures, and complete small batch production. The latest development in the field is metal wire, which can be used in most desktop fdm3d printers, so that almost everyone can use metal 3D printing.

Working principle of metal material extrusion:

  1. Polymer filaments or wires impregnated with small metal particles shall be 3D printed layer by layer according to the design shape;
  2. Clean the 3D printing parts and remove some adhesive;
  3. Put the parts into the sintering furnace and melt the metal particles into solid metal.

Technical advantages: affordable, simple and safe operation.

Technical disadvantages: the parts must go through the same degreasing and sintering process as the adhesive spraying parts. More restrictions on geometry and support are needed to prevent warpage, and the parts have high porosity and cannot achieve the same mechanical properties as the forged metal. The parts are not as dense as PBF or ded, and the shrinkage in the furnace is not accurate.
